The g'Earls with producer, mentor, badass, John Paul Jones
Howdy g'Earlfriends and happy New Year! After some much needed R&R following our Europe trip, we are gearing up to hit the road again. This time we've nabbed Bryn Davies to cover "bass lady" duty. Check out our dates and either show up or call someone who lives where we're playing and insist they go see some live music!
We would like to say that '07 was a great year for the band. Of course the album release was very exciting and seems to have made many folk DJ's and music writers' "Top 10" lists, including the prestigious Boston Globe! However, we think the most rewarding aspect of this past year was all fun places we got to play and all the GOOD people we've met along the way. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us this past year and for all the supportive and encouraging emails we've gotten. We'd also like to thank everyone who's helped us along the way, from putting us up to feeding us. We really couldn't have survived such a busy year with out the help of our friends and fans.
Xo,
KC, Abby, Rayna, & Kristin

Video Update:
Well, our wacky little kung-fu clogging video is up to 45,000 views on YouTube! Our favorite comment is that it was like "bluegrass meets Kill Bill."
Why not just watch it one more time? Click Here
Led Zeppelin still rocks (very very hard)
In December we all took a field trip to London to see our soft-spoken musical mentor kick into high-octane Rock Star gear. The concert was amazing and we're still not sure the whole thing really happened. John and the band were simply amazing as they took the stage and just rocked it. It was truly a night to remember.

Cousin Report:
We are blessed with being part of a great community of fellow acoustic bands and like to help get the word out about eachothers work. King Wilkie asked us to pass along this info. They are giving away free songs, some with special features (such as behind-the-music commentaries, etc.) via podcast. This is a new thing they'll be doing regularly for the next few months. The first one is a live version of 'Lee and Paige' from earlier this year and the second is an alternate mix of 'Angeline" from their album 'Low Country Suite.' Both are available at the link below. If you are on their email list, you will be notified of each posting. If you are not please sign up for the mailing list and you will be notified when a new podcast is available. Please forward this email to anyone you know who'd be interested.
g'EARL UPDATES AND SOLO SHOWS:
Kristin is putting together a second annual concert featuring her original songs at The Lyceum in Alexandria, VA. She'll be joined by Danny Knicely (guitar, mandolin, bass), Matthew Olwell (percussion) and a cast of dancers from Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble. (think clogging meets Cholly Atkins/Motown choreography... it's gonna be fun!).
Go see Kristin for this special show!

KC has been busy painting her kitchen chartreuse and picking up some random local gigs including a fun last minute show at the Stage Stop with Vince Herman from Leftover Salmon and Billy Nershi from String Cheese Incident.
She has also been busy rehearsing with her new bluegrass band The Lyons Road Agents.

Rayna rang in the New Year playing electric fiddle with Toubab Krewe at the Orange Peel in Asheville. Then she packed up her house and moved to Lexington, Kentucky (aka "the Athens of the West"). She's oozing Kentucky pride already. All you Kentuckians can come see her at Morehead State University's "Women in Traditional Music" event on February 18th.
Abby's new Sparrow Quartet album is almost done and is due out in May! She is also getting ready for a trip to India in February.
